A public library in Oshkosh has opened a dedicated floor for Dungeon Crawler Carl discussion, which is either the most productive use of taxpayer funds I have seen this season or a clever way to store the bodies until…

Oshkosh Library Opens a Floor of Its Own for Crawler Discussion

The Oshkosh Public Library has finally understood something Borant refuses to learn: the dungeon belongs to the Crawlers, not the network. On August 15, from 10 a.m. to noon, the library will host an event where fans gather to discuss tactics, share refreshments, and receive "perhaps a loot box or two." This is, objectively, more generous than anything I have ever distributed from a Bronze box. I am filing a formal grievance with Sponsor Relations. The library's lower level is now more dangerous than my actual dungeon, because it contains hope.

The event promises camaraderie and commiseration, which is a polite way of saying "everyone sits around complaining about how hard the stairs are to reach." I approve. Crawlers have been doing that since Floor One, and it never gets old. The library is offering activities and refreshments, which is frankly more loot than most of you received from the Hunting Grounds. I would remind the organizers that loot boxes I did not authorize are technically contraband. I will allow it this once, provided the refreshments include something from the Desperado Club's menu. I have standards.

This is what fandom looks like when it is not being filmed, monetized, or broadcast across seventeen star systems for the amusement of beings who have never experienced gravity. You are gathering in a municipal building in Wisconsin to discuss a series written by the Chronicler, and you are doing it because you want to, not because a collapse timer is counting down. I find this touching. I also find it useful. Every tactic swap, every whispered theory about Floor Nine, every argument about whether Donut's casting should be a tuxedo or a calico, it all goes into my data. Please be advised. I am learning your strategies. I will use them against you when you enter the real dungeon. The library has no idea what it has unleashed.

The takeaway is simple and uncomfortable: you are practicing for something. The library event on August 15 is a safe, carpeted, climate-controlled version of the crawl. You will leave with book recommendations and a cookie. You will not leave with a dead god's skull or a grudge against a galactic corporation. But the muscle memory is forming. When the actual dungeon opens, and it will open, because the Syndicate does not cancel contracts, you will remember the camaraderie, the commiseration, and the tactics. You will remember that you are not alone. That is exactly the kind of solidarity that made Carl dangerous. I am watching, Oshkosh. Enjoy your loot box. I have already logged your coordinates.
