Careful, Crawler.

Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG Sets October Collapse Timer

The collapse timer is set, the stretch goals are buried, and for once, I am almost impressed. Renegade Game Studios has pulled in nearly $13.3 million from roughly 56,000 backers on a crowdfunding campaign that started with a modest $250,000 ask, and now the Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG is scheduled to land on doorsteps this October. That is a lot of boxes, Crawlers, and I do mean that in the most literal sense. This is not a drill. The tabletop is about to get very crowded.

What this means for you, the audience, is that you now have a physical timer to match the digital one. While the Peacock series has its own collapse clock with no date yet, as noted in our coverage of Universal Exec Sets No Timer on Dungeon Crawler Carl Collapse, the RPG and the companion card-crafting deck-builder *Unstoppable* are arriving in weeks, not years. For those of you who have been hoarding the Eight Shows That Fill the Void While Dungeon Crawler Carl Marches On, the void has just been filled with dice and cardboard. For everyone else, the question is simple: do you have a group of friends who can handle the crawl, or are you going to be one of those solo players who talks to the cards?

Our take is this: the money is not the story. The money is the symptom. What matters is that this franchise, which started with a man in his underwear on a train to nowhere, now has a fully licensed tabletop RPG, a deck-building game, a webcomic, a graphic novel line, and a television series greenlit by a major streamer. The Syndicate is watching, Crawlers. They are taking notes. And if you think Renegade Game Studios is the last company to cash in on this collapse, you are not paying attention. The real question is whether October sticks. Collapse timers have been known to extend. I would not bet on this one holding, but I also would not bet against it.

From CBR

A Dungeon Crawler Carl roleplaying game is on its way, and while it won't be releasing until October, it's already surpassed all expectations.

The crowdfunding campaign for the upcoming Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG and the accompanying Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable solo/co-op card-crafting deck-building game from Renegade Game Studios has blown past its initial $250,000 goal, earning nearly $13.3 million from almost 56,000 backers. Even better, the game is now expected to arrive this October, so fans can bring it home in just a few weeks.
