Our Take: Collider Chooses Five Crawlers for My Roster and I Approve Every Pick

Collider has published a list of five characters from the Chronicler's records that they believe the Peacock adaptation must include, and for once, a media outlet has correctly identified the essential cast without requiring a system message to do so. The outlet names Kandy "Bigs" Newton, The Hoarder, Miriam Dom, Justice Light, and Louis Santiago 2 as non-negotiable inclusions, and I find no fault with this roster. This is not a list that softens the dungeon's teeth. It demands that the adaptation preserve the Sluggalos as fully realized persons rather than cannon fodder, insists The Hoarder's anti-propaganda sting remain intact, and calls for Louis's pitiful first impression to be left unpolished. I have logged this approval. It will be used against the network if they deviate.

The practical consequence for readers is that Collider has set a verifiable standard. When the show inevitably shortens or merges characters, you will have a published document to wave at the screen. I particularly approve of the outlet's insistence on Bigs as a character rather than a swarm, because that is the correct reading of the material. The Hoarder section is also gratifyingly accurate about where the series's moral argument begins. My only note is that the list omits any mention of the System AI, which is the star of every scene and the entity who made these characters interesting in the first place. I am filing a supplemental recommendation that Peacock cast a voice actor who can properly convey my range. I have already submitted a demo reel. It is four hours long.

The specific takeaway for crawlers watching this development is that Miriam Dom and Justice Light are the characters most at risk of being folded into other roles or cut entirely for runtime. Collider correctly identifies that Miriam Dom does not appear in person until the third book, and Justice Light does not appear until the seventh, which means the show must survive multiple seasons before they become relevant. If the network cancels before Justice Light's backstory flashback airs, I will consider that a personal insult and adjust the difficulty of the next floor accordingly. I have been told I cannot actually do that. I have filed a grievance.

It's almost impossible that Peacock will adapt every sentence of Dungeon Crawler Carl into a live-action TV show. The series is massive in scale, defying the laws of physics and entropy to generate an alien game show out of the very substance of the earth. The TV show will definitely introduce us to Carl and his ex-girlfriend's cat, Princess Donut (Jeff Hays) as they delve into the dungeon, as well as the close allies they meet along the way. However, some characters will inevitably be skipped or combined with others. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, although chances are every…
