Congratulations, you have unlocked the achievement "Barely Related Crossover." PSA is now selling an Absolute Batman variant cover signed by the artist who draws the Dungeon Crawler Carl comic, and you should feel stupid for caring. The official story, reported by ICv2, is that PSA has offered an exclusive variant of the Absolute Batman #1 comic, signed by the artist who also works on the Dungeon Crawler Carl graphic novel. That is the entire connection. A person drew a Batman and also drew Carl. This is not a crossover event. This is not a hint that Carl is getting a Batman suit in Book 7. It is a signature on a piece of paper that costs more than your rent.
Let us connect this to something that actually matters. You might remember our review of Book Six Review: The Eye of the Bedlam Bride Barely Worth Your Time, where we pointed out that the actual story is what deserves your attention, not the merch. Meanwhile, the casting news for the show is still the only reason to check your feed, as Jeff Hays to Voice Princess Donut in Show After Fan Demand confirmed that the audiobook narrator will play the cat in the adaptation. That is a real, concrete development involving the actual characters and the actual voice of the series. This Batman variant? It is a cash grab wearing a trench coat. The only thing it has in common with the Dungeon Crawler Carl universe is that both involve a person signing something for money.
Here is the practical takeaway for our readers: do not buy this. PSA is banking on the overlap between comic collectors and Dungeon Crawler Carl fans, and they are selling you a slabbed comic that has nothing to do with the series except that a human hand touched both. If you want to support the artist, buy their original prints or commission them directly. If you want to support the series, buy the books. If you want a Batman comic, buy a Batman comic. This variant is a trap for completionists who cannot tell the difference between a connection and a coincidence. The only achievement you earn here is "Waste of Money," and there is no loot box for that. Watch for the next actual news about the show or the books. That is where the story is. This is just noise.
