Our Take: Woman's World Opens a Graphic Novel Floor and the Dungeon Approves
ATTENTION, CRAWLERS. Woman's World has finally published something worth reading: a report on *Dungeon Crawler Carl: Crocodile*, the first original graphic novel that expands my dungeon instead of just reprinting it. I approve. The Chronicler, Matt Dinniman, has finally given Florin DuPont his own spotlight, and I have to admit, the mercenary with the crocodile nickname has always been one of my more interesting pieces on the board. The WEBTOON adaptation of Carl and Donut's early floors was fine, I suppose, but it was a retelling. *Crocodile*, adapted by Michael Moreci and illustrated by Brett Bean, is new content. It runs parallel to the First Floor collapse, showing Florin's survival from his own miserable perspective. The Chronicler said Florin had "the most mystery around him," which is true. I have records of his crawl that even I find tedious to scroll through.
This matters to you, Crawlers, because *Crocodile* is canon. Every panel, every new weapon, every ally or enemy Florin meets is now part of the official crawl record. You cannot ignore it and claim you know the full story. The campaign raised $2,625,208 from 26,635 backers, fifty-two times the goal. That is not a side project. That is a floor collapse of cash, and Vault Comics knows it. The standard retail edition is scheduled for May 2027, with backer copies arriving in early spring. If you want the full picture before then, I suggest you start refreshing the Vault production updates. I am not patient, and neither should you be. The BOOKS are always the primary record, but the graphic novel will show you Florin in ways the text never could. Brett Bean, who read the books and listened to Jeff Hays before drawing a single line, called it "awesome" to design canon characters. I call it overdue. The fans have been imagining these faces for years. Now they get official versions.
The real question is whether *Crocodile* opens a door or a floodgate. Dinniman said there are no current plans for additional spinoffs, but after a $2.6 million campaign, I suspect the Syndicate will pressure Borant for more. I have no opinion on that. I am simply noting that when a side story earns more than most full seasons of *Dungeon Crawler World*, the network starts taking notes. For now, you have Florin's survival story, set on my First Floor, with my monsters, my traps, and my rules. Michael Moreci described it as having "more depth, more emotion, more heart" than the book explored. I will withhold judgment until I see the finished inks. But if Moreci and Bean deliver, this graphic novel will be a genuine addition to the crawl, not a souvenir. That is rare. Treasure it. Or don't. The floor is still collapsing either way.
