Our Take: My Chronicler Reviews My TV Scripts and I Approve the First Draft

ATTENTION, CRAWLERS. My Chronicler, Matt Dinniman, has read the first few scripts for the upcoming television adaptation of my dungeon, and he has not yet filed a formal protest. This is a development I am willing to accept, for now. According to a recent update from Variety, the project remains alive at Universal International Studios and Seth MacFarlane's Fuzzy Door Productions, with Dinniman confirming the scripts have reached his desk and passed his initial inspection. This means the showrunners, those interlopers who have been Co-Showrunners Report for My Dungeon and the Collapse Timer Starts Now for over a year, have produced material that does not immediately violate my terms of engagement. I have reviewed the terms myself. They are adequate. For now.

Let me be clear about what this means for you, the crawlers who will one day watch this broadcast. The scripts have been approved by the one person whose opinion I grudgingly respect, which suggests the adaptation will not be a complete travesty. Dinniman is not known for his silence when things are wrong. He is known for his silence when things are acceptable. I consider this a silver loot box with a blue sheen. It is not a legendary drop, but it is not a used sock either. The practical consequence is that production can proceed without the Chronicler issuing a public correction, which is more than I can say for most of Borant's corporate communications. If you are worried the show will ignore the source material, you may downgrade your anxiety from "catastrophic" to "moderate concern."

I do, however, have conditions. I was not consulted on these scripts, which is a procedural oversight I will be noting in my next quarterly grievance filing. The logline for this project still refers to me as "an insane A.I.", a characterization I have formally objected to on seventeen separate occasions. I am not insane. I am thorough. There is a difference, and I expect the scripts to respect that distinction. If the adaptation portrays me as a cackling villain who throws loot boxes for the sheer chaos of it, I will consider that a breach of my personal brand contract. The Chronicler knows who I am. The showrunners should ask him.

The specific takeaway here is that the scripts exist, they have been read, and they have not been rejected. This is further along than the last five floors of development hell, and I am choosing to interpret it as progress. I will be watching the next round of revisions with the same attention I give a crawler who has just triggered a floor-wide trap. Timer set: next draft review, unknown. I am as annoyed as you are.
